Creating Art to Help Others Feel Less Alone

I always thought “real” art was realism, paintings, chalk pieces…so I never took my doodles seriously. They would always just be a thing I did to to pass the time. But when I started to doodle to help me overcome tough periods in my life, I started to realize there was a certain power behind them. They could help others feel less alone in their feelings.

Here’s My Story

In 2019, when I was in my final year at The University of British Columbia, Bruno Martín del Campo, someone who I bumped into time to time on campus - that remarkably everyone seemed to know - asked me if he could document my SofsDoodles story. He thought my art was helping people. Helping him.

I was surprised to be approached, but honoured to have someone as talented and busy as Bruno value my story. And I was nervous.

A few days before leaving Canada for good: We set off together, visiting and filming spots that SofsDoodles existed. It made me remember stories of my past four years living there that I had forgotten. It showed me how much I had grown.

Here is my story :)
